Paediatric Physiotherapy

Our team of physiotherapists here at Canobolas Kids Health work solely with babies, children and adolescents, which brings a unique and family centred approach to our therapy sessions. We understand child development and the impact of growth on a child’s neurological and musculoskeletal systems. We are trained to assess and diagnose concerns or injuries, and when it comes to treatment, we make it fun by adding a little dash of play! Things our physiotherapists can help with include:

Baby and Toddler development

  • Early intervention for children from birth to 4 years to support your little ones to have the best start possible.
  • Late to reach developmental milestones such as rolling, sitting, crawling and walking.
  • Orthopaedic conditions such as plagiocephaly, torticollis and talipes (turned feet).
  • Neurological disabilities including Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, muscular dystrophy etc. 

Child and Adolescent Development​

  • Difficulty with gross motor skills, such as running, jumping, hopping and bike riding.
  • Trips and falls
  • Toe walking
  • Neurological disabilities including Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, muscular dystrophy etc.

Musculoskeletal / Sports

  • Growth related conditions such as Osgood Schlatters (knee pain) and Sever’s disease (heel pain):
  • Ankle Injuries such as sprains, fractures and syndesmosis injuries
  • Knee injuries: ACL tears, MCL tears, Meniscus injury, patella dislocation, patellofemoral pain (runners knee).

  • Shoulder injuries such as dislocation, fractures and AC joint sprains.
  • Rehab post conditions such as Perthes, Slipped Capital femoral epiphysis, juvenile arthritis, transient synovitis

  • Post operative rehabilitation.
  • Injury prevention, such as the Netball KNEE program
  • Running injuries: Diagnosis, rehabilitation program, running assessment and running re-training.

Aquatic

  • Aquatic Physiotherapy (also known as Hydrotherapy), is physiotherapy performed in warm water. It can assist in improving strength, balance, coordination, endurance and gross motor skills.
  • Aquatic therapy post surgery or immobilisation (e.g. in a cast) is also beneficial for movement and restoring function.
